The Kotobukiya Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Statue: Homage to a Video Game WarriorDecember 21, 2013
With the release of ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ in November, the fictional exploits of the franchise’s daring, brogue-wielding special operator, Captain Soap MacTavish seem like figments of a distant memory. The Kotobukiya Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Statue that bears his likeness is impressive enough to merit a nostalgic look back despite being four years on from the game’s original release.
The result of a creative partnership between Activision, Infinity Ward, and Kotobukiya, this 1/6 scale, 12″ ARTFX sculpture faithfully depicts the seasoned Task Force 141 operator as he appeared in the icy Cliffhanger level from the Modern Warfare 2 single player campaign. Out of the box, Soap comes brandishing a pair of ice-climbing axes but tucked neatly in the statues base are two additional sets of arms and weapons including dual .45 caliber pistols and a customized M-14 rifle.
Soap may have met his demise in Modern Warfare 3, but fortunately hell live on (albeit in 1/6 scale) courtesy of Kotobukiya’s immensely talented team of artists.
