Get a Closer Look at The Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Limited Edition StatueJanuary 4, 2014
Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag released in October 2013 for the PC and gaming consoles to mostly favorable reviews. In addition to delivering a game worthy of the franchises lofty pedigree, the collectors edition set which launched alongside the standard SKU was equally impressive. Although the package included an embroidered 28 by 48 pirate flag emblazoned with the game’s logo; a rare 80-page art book; the game’s soundtrack; and a Steelbook case, it was the exclusive Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Limited Edition statue that made the set so desirable.
Designed and manufactured by PureArts for UbiCollectibles, the 18 statue depicts Assassin’s Creed’s IV’s swashbuckling protagonist, Captain Edward Kenway, in a dramatic action pose that looks like a screenshot from the game. There’s an admirable degree of detail in Captain Kenway’s molded clothes and accoutrements as well as in the flag and mast assembly that comprise the figurine’s base. The statue features a colorful but realistic finish that approaches the quality of more expensive offerings from the likes of McFarlane Toys and others.
The exclusive Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag Limited Edition statue stands as a compelling incentive for gaming-minded collectors willing to splurge on a pricier premium set. We would have liked to see some articulation in the figures joints and appendages as well as few swappable accessories, but overall the limitation doesnt detract much from the figures beautiful aesthetic.
