Standby for the Awesomely Enormous Titanfall Collector’s Edition
March 13, 2014Given Titanfalls monumental scale, its only fitting that the games release bears accouterments of equally grand proportions. Its developer, Respawn Entertainment, must have wholeheartedly agreed; unleashing what is undoubtedly the definitive premium set, the Titanfall Collectors Edition.
Sure, the exclusive poster and 192-page art book are great additions, but its the jaw-dropping Atlas Titan statue and diorama that make this pricy ($250 USD) set a sought-after prize for fans of the lauded multiplayer sci-fi shooter.
Once removed from its protective packaging the enormity and complexity of this collectible become even more impressive. Handcrafted from hundreds of individual components, the Titan statue stands nearly 19 on a base thats roughly 18.5 wide. Scanning the surface, its evident that Respawn and the statues manufacturer, Development Plus, Inc., went to great lengths to capture the games titular mechanized combatant in exhaustive detail.
Inspired by one of Titanfalls typical action scenes, the statue comes with a permanently affixed Militia soldier rodeoing the Titan along with two removable IMC grunts that mount to the dioramas base. Like the Titan, the human figures dont feature any articulation, yet the detailed sculpture and authentically intricate painted finish on each satisfactorily compensate for the limited poseability.
Perhaps the most impressive feature of the monolithic Titanfall Collectors Edition statue is its light-up feature. With the press of a button on the base (cleverly designed to look like stone debris), the Atlas Titans external sensors and the visor of its mounted adversary illuminate. The colors of the internal LEDs can be toggled from red to blue to display their affiliation as in the game. Its another wonderfully superfluous and arcane detail that Titanfall fans and collectors are certain to appreciate.
Boasting thrilling and frenetic action across a variety of game modes, theres no shortage of reasons to jump into Titanfall’s multiplayer fray. For fans looking to celebrate the release with (a lot) more, the Titanfall Collectors Edition is the only version that will suffice.
