Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z Gets the Dark Horse Comics Treatment

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden ZYaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z recently released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 featuring an all-new cybernetically enhanced shadow warrior, dazzling new abilities, and hordes of undead foes to cleave. The game’s developers, Team Ninja and Spark Unlimited, have also sidestepped prior entries in the franchise by giving the game a captivating anime-inspired graphical veneer.

Now, fans that choose to snag the Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z Special Edition can complement the stylized on-screen action with the exclusive miniature Dark Horse Comics adaptation that’s included. Providing over twenty pages of backstory into the origin of the titular ninja, Yaiba, the book joins the game’s original soundtrack (CD on Xbox 360; download voucher on PlayStation 3) , and Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate downloadable content as “special edition” swag. The additions may have arcane appeal to most gamers, but for ardent Ninja Gaiden devotees undeterred by Yaiba’s bold departure from the franchise’s twenty-six year lineage, they’re a welcome bonus.

The standard and “special” editions of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z are available now for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 from Tecmo Koei.
