In the Shadow of Gundam Front TokyoSeptember 30, 2014
The manmade island of Odaiba in the heart of the Tokyo Bay is home to the ultimate hub for followers of the immensely popular Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, Gundam Front Tokyo.
Beyond the mecha-themed museum filled with Gundam exhibits and memorabilia that occupies the 7th floor of the Diver City Tokyo shopping plaza, the uniquely captivating draw of the Gundam Front experience is the towering 1:1 scale statue at its entrance. A faithful recreation of the iconic RX-78-2 mobile suit, the colossal (and admittedly not so collectible) sentinel rises 59 feet into the metropolitan skyline while boasting a remarkable degree of detail for its size. Visitors can get an up-close, 360-degree view of Gundam Fronts (nearly) six-story guardian to pose for photos or to catch one of the video and light-filled presentations that run throughout the day and evening.
Whether perusing the museum or taking in the familiar life-size mecha that guards its entrance, Gundam Front offers fans of the series (and just about anyone with a penchant for giant robots) a multisensory experience that should make it a must-see destination when in Tokyo. For more information (including the latest daily show times) be sure to check out the official Gundam Front website.
