A persistent, must-see cornerstone of the annual Tokyo Toy Show is the veritable cornucuopia of new and yet to be released Takara Tomy Transformers sure to be on display. As in , guests at the recent were greeted with a collection of morphable figures that was as robust as it was diverse.
While featured an assortment of tie-in bots inspired by the big-screen feature, Transformers: Age of Extinction, their 2015 showing shifted the emphasis to the small screen with an expansive variety of shape-shifting figures based on the Transformers: Robots in Disguise animated television series. On display were toys based on the series iterations of franchise favorites including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Jazz, Sideswipe, and Grimlock, as well as bots inspired by more contemporary heroes, like Steeljaw, Strongarm, and Underbite.
Also grabbing the spotlight within the wide range of Takara Tomy Transformers at Tokyo Toy Show 2015 were the latest additions to the Combiner Wars series (known as Transformers Unite Warriors in Japan) including the Aerialbots and Stunticons and their respective multi-bot conglomerations, Superion and Menasor. Other Transformers not to be missed included new Masterpiece versions of the Autobots, Tracks, and Road Rage, and the special gilded re-release of the , which was released last year.
