A Fleet of Bandai Star Wars Collectibles Emerges From HyperspaceJuly 26, 2015
To the enchantment of attendees at this year’s International Tokyo Toy Show (18-21 June), the breadth and volume of Bandai Star Wars collectibles on display was both vast and jaw dropping.
As with , there was a clear focus on the original Star Wars trilogy. The company’s cavernous booth was flush with an assortment of authentic and ultra-detailed pieces based on the series’ iconic characters and vehicles. Surrounding the starship-filled diorama (swarming with fighters battling above the Death Star’s surface) at the center of Bandai’s showcase was an assortment of masterfully finished plastic model kits in a range of scales inspired by familiar craft which included X-Wings, Y-Wings, TIE fighters, speeder bikes, AT-STs and others.
Bandai’s display of Star Wars characters ranged from the unorthodox transforming “Egg Force”, miniature “Shokugan”, and stylized, “Movie Realization” (depicting character’s re-imagined in Samurai armor) figure collections, to more conventional portrayals of Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, C-3PO, and Darth Vader, which were accompanied by a veritable legion of Stormtroopers of various sizes.
