Zeroing-in on Bandai’s S.H. Figuarts Deadshot Suicide Squad Action FigureSeptember 4, 2017
For fans of 2016’s big-screen action flick centered on DC Comics’ rag-tag assemblage of iconic baddies, Bandai’s Tamashii Nations S.H. Figuarts Deadshot Suicide Squad action figure stands out as an impressive collectible. One of three pieces in the toy company’s Suicide Squad lineup (which includes The Joker and Harley Quinn), the S.H. Figuarts Deadshot figure delivers the same high level of detail and quality as many of the delivered by the Bandai Tamashii Nations creative team.
Out of the box the S.H. Figuarts Deadshot action figure is immediately striking. The nearly 6.5-inch tall collectible features an intricately cast and painted sculpt. The molded outfit painstakingly captures the particulars of the super assassin’s trappings. Though they are not removable, details like the body suit, armor, belts, holsters, magazines, and knives are particularly well crafted. In addition, the figure portrays the visage of actor, Will Smith, quite convincingly. Six interchangeable hands (three pairs), and two interchangeable portraits (masked and unmasked) are included for alternate display.
Bandai’s Tamashii Nations is known for collectibles that are both well made and highly poseable, and the S.H.Figuarts Deadshot action figure is no exception. Along with being remarkably sturdy and balanced (remaining upright in without the need of a stand or platform), Deadshot is fully articulated with joints spread throughout the body resulting in a satisfying variety of dynamic display options. Contributing to the figure’s impressive range of motion is the molded multi-part armor. The articulated abdominal armor allows for optimum poseability with more natural movement. The downside of all that articulation is that the numerous sculpted joints are unavoidably conspicuous and wind up detracting a bit from the figure’s otherwise lifelike presentation.
In addition to the swappable body accessories, the Bandai Tamashii Nations S.H. Figuarts Deadshot action figure comes with a 3-inch long recreation of the infamous marksman’s highly customized sniper rifle so that collectors can depict him in a variety of lethal poses.
Bandai’s Tamashii Nations S.H. Figuarts Deadshot Suicide Squad action figure released in May at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of 6,480 JPY (~$59 USD). DC Comics superhero buffs intent on adding the S.H. Figuarts Deadshot to their collections can find it at retail in Japan or online at prices between $40 to $50 USD.
