Bandai’s S.H. Figuarts Batman Ninja Figure Emerges from the ShadowsSeptember 3, 2018
Bandai’s Tamashii Nations S.H. Figuarts Batman Ninja Action Figure is a superb depiction of the DC Comics icon reimagined as a shadow warrior in feudal Japan. Inspired by the genre-bending crossover anime, Batman Ninja (which released in May 2018), Bandai’s figure is strikingly faithful to the film’s portrayal of the titular hero’s stylized appearance.
While it represents a stark departure from the classic look of the Caped Crusader, the S.H. Figuarts Batman Ninja Action Figure offers a distinctive take on Batman, which fans of the character and the animated feature film are likely to find compelling. Built from ABS and PVC parts, the 6.5-inch figure is brilliantly sculpted with gold, purple, and brown accents; which complement the mostly grey and black contours.
Bandai Tamashii Nations is known for making collectibles that are both finely fashioned and highly poseable, and the S.H. Figuarts Batman Ninja Action Figure affirms the toy maker’s lofty reputation. Along with being robust and stable (remaining upright without the need of support), Batman Ninja is fully articulated with joints spread throughout the body resulting in a satisfying variety of dynamic display options. Accentuating the poseability, the Bandai Tamashii Nations figure comes with two heads, which enable collectors to present Batman with either a stoic or furious countenance. In addition, the figure comes with ten interchangeable hands (five pairs) for alternate display. The cowled shinobi’s cape is especially remarkable. While it’s not fabric, the dusky mantle is both removable and articulated with three pieces that can be adjusted to vary the extent to which it’s flared. As with many other ultra-poseable S.H. Figuarts collectibles, Batman Ninja’s extensive articulation comes at the expense of realism as the numerous sculpted joints wind up being particularly conspicuous. However, given the figure’s otherwise marvelous fabrication and appearance, it’s a minor quibble.
Bandai’s S.H. Figuarts Batman Ninja Action Figure comes with a small but essential clutch of miniature weapons. The figure can wield the accompanying katana (and scabbard) in either hand, as well as a pair of kunai (throwing blades), which enable a range of formidable poses for collectors to create.
Bandai’s Tamashii Nations S.H. Figuarts Batman Ninja Action Figure released June 30, 2018 at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of 6,480 JPY (~$60 USD). Collectors looking to pit Batman Ninja against his longtime, but similarly reimagined foe,The Joker, have the option of snagging the Clown Prince of Crime aka, Demon King of the Sixth Heaven figure as well, which released on July 28, 2018 at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of 6,480 JPY (~60 USD).
