Resident Evil 2 Collector’s Edition: Celebrating Capcom’s Survival Horror ReduxJanuary 29, 2019
The Resident Evil 2 Collector’s Edition is the definitive version of Capcom’s remade survival horror classic. The premium set is chock full of digital and physical enticements, which make it a worthwhile splurge for longtime devotees of the Resident Evil franchise.
As with other “AAA” video game releases, like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and God of War, the Resident Evil 2 Collector’s Edition has plenty of downloadable extras. In addition to a code redeemable for a 25-track digital assortment from the game’s soundtrack, the premium package comes with a card with a printed code that unlocks the “Extra DLC Pack”, which includes: Leon’s “Noir” and “Arklay Sherriff” costumes; Claire’s “Elza Walker”, “Military”, and “Noir” costumes; “Samurai Edge – Albert Model” weapon; and “Original Version” alternate soundtrack.
The Resident Evil 2 Collector’s Edition comes with a respectable complement of physical bonus items, which includes a two-sided poster detailing the renovation of the “Raccoon Police Department (R.P.D.)”; a 32-page book entitled, “Ben’s File”, which chronicles selected aspects of Resident Evil 2 and provides insight into the game’s characters, environments, and back story; and a statue of protagonist, Leon S. Kennedy. The masterfully rendered figure stands approximately 11.5 inches tall and comes with a matching 1.25-inch circular base emblazoned with the characters name. The statue’s screen-accurate sculpture and painted detail make the higher price tag of the Resident Evil 2 Collector’s Edition far more palatable and an easily justifiable purchase for both new and hardcore fans of Capcom’s storied survival horror game series.
The Resident Evil 2 Collector’s Edition released day-and-date with the digital and physical versions of the Deluxe and Standard editions of the game on January 25, 2019 at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $199.99 USD.
